Our Story

Early Beginnings

New Life Ministry was founded in 2005 by apostle Merando Hodgson, driven by a vision to serve the city of Bluefields in Nicaragua.  Humble Roots  Our Ministry began by Apostle Merando Hodgson, In 2005 he started conducting a christian radio program that focused on giving christian news, playing christian songs and preaching the Word of God  while engaging with the audience.  The New Life Ministry started giving out free bibles to whomever was in need of one. All the interested person needed to do was stop by our office that was located in the neighborhood of Pointeen in Bluefields and sign their name. We estimate that we handed out over 1,000  bibles. Soon after, we started to meet worship and exalt the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. And since that day, we continue to do so.  

Expansion and Growth

 In 2007, we started a second church in the neighborhood of 19 de Julio, which is located on the outskirt of Bluefields. We would hold services out there for  years. During those years, in that neighborhood there were severe drinking water problems. There was no running clean water reason why our ministry was blessed with the construction of a well of drinking water; to this day the community still enjoys the clean water from this well.  

The Lord continued to favor us and we felt led to establish a school ministry.  The New Vision Primary School, as we called it, was built in the neighborhood of Loma Fresca in Bluefields. Our yearly enrollment ranged from the kindergartens until eighth graders. The New Vision School served as a place where children were taught regular curriculum and most importantly the Word of God. Many graduated from kindergarten and primary school, a big milestone for when considering that our school operated in one of the most impoverished areas of the city in which the daily income was about a 1 USD a day and main activity was breaking stones with a sledgehammer under the sun.  

In the years to follow, apostle Merando Hodgson felt the call to start traveling to the neighboring communities of Bluefields. We completed missionary trips to Rama Cay, Punta de Aguila, Tasbapauni. This resulted in many souls saved and reconciled with the Lord. Additionally, the founding of churches Punta Aguila and Tasbapauni.  Currently, in Bluefields we continue to worship our God from our building in the Santa Rosa neighborhood.
